The Bearded Ladies present their new cabaret:
My Dinner with Dito: A How to be Gay Cabaret
with guest star Martha Graham Cracker

Philadelphia – The Wilma Theater, home of the critically-acclaimed Bearded Ladies Cabaret, welcomes the troupe back to the Wilma lobby with their newest cabaret, My Dinner with Dito: A How to be Gay Cabaret featuring guest performer Dito Van Reigersberg, also known as drag personality Martha Graham Cracker. Guided by guest director Elizabeth Stevens, Dito Van Reigersberg and John Jarboe delve heel first into gay male iconography from Judy and Liza to Mommy Dearest, exploring and exploding stereotypes of what it means to be gay. Patrons can expect drag, table dancing, power ballads, and an array of music from Judy, Joni, Dolly, The Magnetic Fields, and more.  My Dinner with Dito: A How to be Gay Cabaret will be held in The Wilma Theater lobby July 17 – 20 and July 24 –27.

Thanks to food sponsors London Grill and Paris Wine Bar, audience members will get to nibble and drink their way through the show.  London Grill will be providing all the courses for the dinner, and everything that Dito and John eat will be served in sample sizes to the audience in small bento boxes.

Press tickets are available for any night of the cabaret. To make arrangements, please contact Johnny Van Heest, Public Relations Manager at or 215.893.9456 x102.

"By the end of the evening we will all be a little more full, and a little more gay" says Bearded Ladies Artistic Director, John Jarboe.

How to be Gay Cabaret complements a busy summer performance schedule for The Bearded Ladies which also includes appearances at The Philadelphia Museum of Art’s ‘Art After Five’ program and the Annual Bastille Day Celebration at Eastern State Penitentiary. The Bearded Ladies performed on June 7 at the Philadelphia Art Museum where they presented their popular Marlene and The Machine Cabaret. On July 13, 2013, the Beards will return to Eastern State Penitentiary where they have served as the chief entertainment for the site’s highly anticipated annual Bastille Day Celebration for the past two years.

Tickets for How to be Gay Cabaret will be $20 for seats or $25 for tables and will include a bento box containing small bites as well as an open wine bar.  Contact The Wilma Theater box office at 215.546.7824 for tickets or tickets can be purchased at the door (if not sold out).

Mission Statements:
The Bearded Ladies Cabaret
is a troupe of cabaret artists who insist that art can be both intellectual and accessible, entertaining and meaningful, stupid good and just plain stupid.  We fuse cabaret and theater to tackle the politics of gender, identity, and artistic invention with sparkle and wit.

The Wilma Theater creates living, adventurous art. We engage artists and audiences in imaginative reflection on the complexities of contemporary life. We present bold, original, well-crafted productions that represent a range of voices, viewpoints and styles.
