THE WILMA THEATER ANNOUNCES SEVEN NEW BOARD MEMBERS For Immediate Release: January 13,
2000 Philadelphia, PA - January 13 - The Wilma Theater is proud to announce seven new additions to its Board of Directors. Joining the Wilma's team of dedicated and passionate community leaders are Faatimah Gamble, Paul Krause, Barrie Novak, John Rollins, Dolly Beechman Schnall, Mari Shaw and Ken Wesler. "Leadership like this ensures that the Wilma will have the community support necessary to achieve the vision of our Artistic Directors," commented Board Chairman Ted Wolf. Faatimah Gamble is the President of Salaam Enterprises, Inc., the host of a monthly radio program "Sisters In Islam", the facilitator of "The Wellness of You" Lecture and Luncheon Series and co-founder of Universal Community Homes where she serves on the Board of Trustees. She was a former student at Temple University and The Wharton School. Paul Krause comes to the Wilma from the Tucker Anthony brokerage firm, where he works as a Portfolio Manager. Before that he worked at Paine Webber after he sold his mail order business that he started from scratch in 1980. He received his BA in Economics from Brown University and his MBA from Harvard. Barrie Novak is currently a Vice President of Human Resources for the Aramark Corporation. Previously, she worked as the Director of Human Resources at Primavera, MCI/Worldcom and Laventhol & Horwath, a Big 10 accounting firm. She is a "graduate" of the Business On Board program of the Arts and Business Council. John Rollins is the Global Managing Partner in the SITE Line of Business in Andersen Consulting. He has worked with Andersen Consulting since 1976 and was admitted to the Partnership in 1986. He is a former board chairman of the Wilma and returns to board service after four years of living and working in London. Dolly Beechman Schnall is a community volunteer. She has taught Play Direction and Creative Drama at Penn State University and Oral Interpretation and was the Director of the Masque Theater at Rutgers University. Other theater involvement includes the Cushman Club and the Walnut Street Theatre. Mari Shaw is a partner at the Philadelphia office of Morgan, Lewis & Bockius. She is the founder and trustee of the National Patent Board and founder of the Akin, Gump, Strauss, Hauer & Field office in Philadelphia. A former Wilma Board Chair, Mari returns to the Wilma after a five-year hiatus. Ken Wesler is the Executive Director of The Grand Opera House in Wilmington, DE. Over the past 13 years, he has worked as the Managing Director of Walnut Street Theatre, General Manager of the Concerto Soloists Chamber Orchestra and as Production Stage Manager at The Wilma Theater from 1982-1989. The Wilma Theater is a non-profit theater that is dedicated to presenting theater as an art form, that engages artists and audiences in an adventure of aesthetic and philosophical reflection on the complexities of contemporary life. The Wilma accomplishes its mission by producing thoughtful, well-crafted productions of intelligent, daring plays, which represent a range of voices, viewpoints and production styles. The Board of Directors now consists of 28 community members who are dedicated to helping the Wilma achieve its goals and objectives. ###
