The Wilma Theater and Philadelphia High School Academies, Inc., present... Philadelphia, PA - Nearly 60 students from the Morris E. Leeds Middle School and Thomas Mifflin School will be performing and producing two shows at The Wilma Theater. The students will present The Great Fruit Escape by Philadelphia Young Playwrights Festival Winner Lauren Rosenberger and Just Before the War Between the Plates by Larry Loebell on Monday, March 6 at 7pm.

In School, At The Wilma is an innovative outreach program designed to show students the different aspects of the theater ranging from marketing and public relations to acting. The students were divided into administration, production and artistic teams based on their preferences, and then each team was held responsible for a specific part of the production. The program focuses on building self-confidence, building reading skills, fostering creativity and encouraging teamwork, cooperation and dedication.

This program which is executed in cooperation with Philadelphia High School Academies, Inc.; an intermediary organization dedicated to connecting public school students with business partners to create unique learning experiences, gives students a working knowledge and understanding of life both in front and behind the scenes. Student Cierra Mobley noted, "We are proud of ourselves." Sasha Bizzell said "When I got up there, I just put all my fears behind me and started acting." Last year, Susan Snyder of the Philadelphia Inquirer observed that the students "seemed very much a professional theater troupe."
