Philadelphia, PA - The Wilma Theater is proud to announce the first annual Camp Wilma, an intensive two-week day camp. From July 31 through August 11, students ages 6-15 will receive in-depth lessons in acting, improvisational playwriting as well as learn the basics of scenic, prop, light and sound design techniques for the theater. This exciting day camp will culminate in an improvisational performance piece on the Wilma's stage on August 11.

"The Wilma is constantly striving to expand our educational offerings and after years of support and encouragement from parents of students in our Studio School classes, we are able to implement this program," noted Char Vandermeer, the Education Director at The Wilma Theater.

Students participating in Camp Wilma will be divided into groups according to age and will study movement, acting, set design and performance under professional actors, directors and instructors. The camp runs Monday through Friday 10am to 4pm at The Wilma Theater on Broad and Spruce Streets. Snacks and pick-up from Market East Station are included in the program's tuition. Children's theater specialist Jodi Sabra is serving as the camp's acting instructor and creative consultant. Jodi is an Adjunct Professor of Creativity in the Classroom at Holy Family College and the director of Julian Krinshy Creative and Performing Arts Camp in Haverford.

Camp Wilma will cost $350 per child and those students who register by May 15 will receive $25 off the tuition. A non-refundable $100 deposit is required from each student and full payment is due by Monday, July 24. Space is limited, so for more information or to register, contact Wilma Education Director Char Vandermeer at 215.893.9456 x101 or register online at www.wilmatheater.org.
