2000 Strathairn, whose credits include L.A. Confidential, A League of Their Own, The Firm, Eight Men Out, The River Wild, Memphis Belle, Dolores Claiborne, Lost In Yonkers, Return of the Seccaucus 7 and many more films, is also a talented stage actor. Cherry Docs, by Canadian playwright David Gow, asks the simple, but harrowing, question: Can we eliminate hate? The play follows Mike, a Neo-Nazi skinhead on trial for murder, defended by a Jewish legal-aid lawyer. Danny, the lawyer, prides himself on his liberal tolerance. He must come to terms with the feelings Mike unearths in him. And Mike's life is suddenly in the hands of a man whom he wishes were dead. As both men reluctantly agree to work together, they realize that more than their beliefs are on the line. In this confrontation, their very lives hang in the balance. Cherry Docs runs May 3 through June 4. Ticket prices range from $7 - $38, with discounts for seniors and groups of ten or more. Tickets are available at The Wilma Theater Box Office, Broad and Spruce Streets, by calling 215.546.7824 or online at www.wilmatheater.org. ###
