HIRSCHL ART EXHIBIT ON DISPLAY AT THE WILMA THEATER - LINCOLN CENTER EXHIBIT COMING TO THE WILMA MAY 15 For Immediate Release: March 22,
2000 Tamar Hirschl was born in Croatia when Europe was facing the first bitter winter of World War II. Her father was taken from her family and later died in the Jasenovac concentration camp. After an unsuccessful escape attempt, Tamar, her mother and her sister were sent to a detention camp in Hungary. Eventually they were released and found their way to Israel. After surviving those early troubles, she dedicated her life to her art. Her work has been exhibited in one-person shows in Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, Munich, New York and Portland, Oregon and group shows in Atlanta, Sarajevo and Toledo. The exhibit will be running concurrently with The Wilma Theater's presentation of CHERRY DOCS, a new play by Canadian playwright David Gow. Cherry Docs, a moving portrait of the angels and demons in our own backyards, follows Mike, a Neo-Nazi skinhead on trial for murder, defended by Danny a Jewish legal-aid lawyer. For more information on the Hirschl exhibit or CHERRY DOCS, contact The Wilma Theater Box Office at (215) 546-7824. ###
