Support The Wilma

As a supporter of The Wilma Theater you directly assist us in presenting some of the highest quality theater in the region. The Wilma Theater continues to garner a regional, national and even international reputation for its creative work as one of the country’s top regional theaters, as well as for our education programs and symposia. Under the leadership of Blanka and Jiri Zizka, the Wilma continues to thrive as it has since its inception over 29 years ago. The Wilma is frequently covered by national and regional media and has received numerous awards. We received "Theater Company of the Year", two years running, from The Philadelphia Inquirer for 2003 and 2004 and have won more "Barrymore Awards" than any other company in the region. Your support is the reason we can accomplish so much and substantially add to the quality of life in the region!

We believe that an artful performance of a compelling play is one of the most rewarding and elevating experiences our culture can provide.  Great theater inspires thought.  It allows us to broaden our perspectives.  As we create our unique brand of bold, inventive theater, we wish to inspire our young audience members to examine, explore, and create the world around them.

We’re happy to inform you of our new campaign to “build the audiences of tomorrow” by actively engaging high school and college students in the experience of live theater.  This was inspired by last year’s involvement of more than 5,000 students in our mainstage and educational programs.  Anne Holmes, our Education Director, has made a huge difference with our Wilmagination and Wilma Classroom programs by giving students of various ages, races, and economic backgrounds an in depth introduction to quality, professional theater.  In a few short years, these young people will be active members of the community.  By introducing them to the experience of live theater today, we are enriching their lives and preparing them to enter post-graduate society as thinking individuals who can positively impact our region through their own community endeavors.

Of course, at the heart of it all is the theater we produce.  As a non-profit organization, the Wilma’s ticket prices cover only 50% of the cost of producing first-rate theater. We rely on our generous contributors to help us continue our tradition of artistic excellence and quality educational programming.

Thank you for your support!
