The Wilma Theater names Amy Leis, PhD to its Board of Directors

PHILADELPHIA – The Wilma Theater, located on the Avenue of the Arts, welcomes Amy Leis, PhD to the Wilma’s Board of Directors. For the past five years, Dr. Leis has served as a Program Manager at Janney Montgomery Scott, LLC in Philadelphia where she has been responsible for developing learning programs related to the financial services industry. She was also responsible for implementing the Wealth Management Certification Program in conjunction with Wharton’s Aresty Institute of Executive Education at the University of Pennsylvania and the College for Financial Planning. Dr. Leis has held numerous positions throughout Philadelphia in the fields of instructional design, project management, and education including Instructional Design for PA Pathways where she received an Award for Excellence and Project Management of Keystone Stars for The Philadelphia Early Childhood Collaborative and the CyberStart Program of the Delaware Valley Association for the Education of Young Children.

Prior to her appointment to the Board of Directors at The Wilma Theater, Dr. Leis was instrumental in developing the Wilma’s new Creating Impact program that is designed to strengthen leadership, creativity, and innovation within corporate workplaces. Established through a partnership with Philadelphia Young Playwrights, Creating Impact works with participants through experiential workshops in innovation, leadership, communications, and team building to foster big-picture thinking and maximize a company’s impact within the global economy. Dr. Leis’ work with Creating Impact was made possible by the Philadelphia Arts and Business Council’s program, Business Volunteers for the Arts. As a trustee, Dr. Leis will work with the Personnel and Marketing Committees.

Along with her work with The Wilma Theater and Philadelphia Young Playwrights, Dr. Leis is active with several non-profit organizations including Art2Love, The Burlington County Footlighters, First Person Arts, and the Golden Slipper Club and Charities.

Dr. Leis holds a PhD in Educational Psychology from Temple University, an MA in Art Education from the University of the Arts, and a BS in Communications and a BA in Visual Arts from the University of Miami. Dr. Leis has a FINRA Series 7 Securities License.

In its 32nd season, The Wilma Theater has become nationally and internationally recognized for producing thoughtful, well-crafted productions of intelligent, daring plays that represent a range of voices, viewpoints, and production styles.
