Theatre Review: ”Body Awareness,” at The Wilma

A new play at the Wilma Theater is a rather unusual offering set on the campus of a New England college.

“Body Awareness” centers on two female professors, close friends, one of whom has a young and not-too-brilliant son.

The drama opens with the statement that the college is holding a celebration of sorts, honoring the human body.

It’s in this connection that the school welcomes a visiting male artist whose specialty is the collection of photographs of nude women.

This is what sets off a comically bitter controversy between the two professors.

Although “Body Awareness” deals with heavy issues, the underlying controversy is a source of hilarity that will keep ‘em laughing at The Wilma through the play’s termination of the local run, February 5th.
